
Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) came alive with vibrant colours, cultural expression, and intercultural harmony as it celebrated World Culture Diversity on 24th May 2025.
Organised by Sustainability Future Fusion (SFF), in collaboration with the School of Business (SoB), School of Hospitality and Tourism (SoHT) at APU, and key external partners including Kuala Lumpur Tourism, Entrepreneurs, and Stakeholders Association (KLTESA), Camerata dell’Arte, and Axon Consultancy Sdn Bhd, the event was a powerful demonstration of unity through diversity and cultural exchange, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 11, 16, and 17 (SDG 11, SDG 16, and SDG 17).

The celebration kicked off with a high-spirited lion dance by the APU Lion Dance Club, welcoming Guest of Honour Datuk Seri Mirza Mohd Taiyab Beg, Advisor of KLTESA and Kuala Lumpur Tourism Executive Association (KLTEA).
With hundreds in attendance, the day unfolded into a dazzling array of multicultural showcases, live performances, traditional costumes, and international cuisine.

Highlights included a soulful singing performance by Yap Ray Hang, a Malaysian student, who captivated the audience with his soulful singing performance.

Equally stirring was Bakhodirov Samirkhon Sardor Ugli, an Uzbekistan student, who moved the crowd with his heartfelt rendition of the Russian ballad “Mama.”

On top of that, the vibrant Mauritian island dance brought infectious energy and colour to the stage.

Traditional performances from Zambia and Syria added depth and cultural richness to the celebration.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Le Huong Gian, a Vietnamese student, captivated the audience with a graceful fashion walk showcasing the classical elegance of Vietnam.

Lastly, special guest performances by classical cellist Look Kai Yang and acoustic guitarist Autilig Cheong elevated the event with refined musical artistry, offering a memorable showcase of Malaysia’s rich creative talent.
A Celebration of Unity, Creativity, and Global Citizenship

As the music faded and final performances took their bow, the atmosphere remained filled with joy, pride, and cross-cultural appreciation.
World Culture Diversity 2025 at APU was more than just a celebration; it was a reaffirmation of global citizenship, empathy, and the power of cultural exchange.
Ms Mayli emphasised that supporting young talents and fostering intercultural understanding plays a vital role in shaping a future that embraces diversity, nurtures inclusion, and celebrates the power of creativity across cultures.
Echoing this sentiment, Mr Kenneth reaffirmed KLTESA’s pride in supporting vibrant student-led initiatives, highlighting the organisation’s ongoing commitment to promoting cultural tourism, fostering harmony, and strengthening collaborative ties with institutions like APU to advance shared global values.
